What am I getting myself into?
You’re probably asking yourself this after we’ve sent you three emails telling you that we’re excited to have you in for an interview. Our interview process is important to your success in class, so we’ll ask you to complete two interviews and a little bit of online homework before you’re considered for admission. Here’s a glimpse into what happens after you apply.
Let’s follow Louis, a potential student (our instructor’s name is also Louis, who is somewhat of a celebrity around here). Louis has just finished up his application for the Arkansas Coding Academy and is excited to get started.
Louis will get an email within 24 hours from our Student Experience Coordinator, who will send him a link to their calendar where he will choose a time for his first interview. We’re pretty flexible, but we’d love to have Louis come in person to see our campus and meet our staff. If he can’t make it to Conway, he has the option to video chat for his first interview. This interview typically takes a minimum of 30 minutes and gives us a chance to get to know Louis much better. Louis can also ask questions, talk about his concerns, and find out financial options.
Louis’ first interview will cover a variety of things, including his career aspirations, why he’s looking at ARCA, and more. He’ll leave feeling a little overwhelmed with information, but armed with knowledge to decide if this is really the career path he wants to follow.
When Louis leaves, our Student Experience Coordinator will follow up via email with any extra materials he requested and some homework for him to complete. He’ll also get the same link to their calendar, where he’ll schedule a follow-up interview.
This follow-up interview will be on the phone, and will only last about 15 minutes (it’s totally painless, we promise!). Louis will be able to talk about the homework he did, ask more questions about the program, and we’ll be able to see if Louis has the grit, curiosity, and passion to be successful in the course.
After the follow-up interview, Louis will hear back from ARCA staff within 1 week to find out if he’s been admitted to the course.
So here’s a quick recap:
- Louis fills out an application.
- Louis receives an email, telling him to sign up for an interview.
- Louis completes his first interview on the ARCA campus.
- Louis receives a follow-up email with his homework.
- Louis signs up for his second interview.
- Louis completes his second interview over a 15-minute phone call
- Louis receives his admittance via email and enrolls at ARCA!
The interview process can go as fast or slow as you’d like! You’re in control of when you schedule a time to meet with our staff.
Not so scary, right? Our interview process is meant to be streamlined and easy to participate in – but we want to make sure a high-commitment, high-pressure educational outlet is right for your career goals.
